Now, it might not look all that great, but it pretty well answers all the questions for both teams.
Houston They said they want a All-Star caliber-type player in return for trading McGrady. Well, it’s highly doubted they’ll get that, but all these guys pretty much help fill their void.
Brad Miller–Houston is scratching for a well-balanced Center with Yao injured. Miller also has a 1 Year contract left, so it isn’t like they’ll have any long term relationship with him if they don’t want one. He’ll also add some much needed height to the “rather short” Houston Team.
Kirk Hinrich–I know he has a 3 year deal still left, but who’s to say that Kyle Lowry will return to Houston next year after the year he has been having? I’m sure another team would be happy to offer him the Starting PG Spot on their team for next year if he keeps up this level of play. Also, Hinrich is a well-balanced Guard, and whether he is a Starter or Bench, he can be effective.
Lindsey Hunter–Just an expiring contract that was needed to fill out the trade. He would most likely be waived after the trade, or either just a Injury Reserve replacement at the bottom of the roster.
Chicago Not much to explain here, other than getting rid of Hinrich would give them a lot of cap space for the future. Also, sending Miller away would give Noah & Gray the two slots for the Center Rotation, who are much younger players and have room to improve over the aging Miller.
McGrady–Everyone wants to know Can McGrady still play at an All-Star Level? Is he still the old T-Mac? This trade would give Chicago the chance to find out. The combination of Rose and McGrady as Guards really looks great, with Rose’s playmaking and McGrady explosive scoring. Luol Deng, Joakim Noah, Tyrus Thomas, & John Salmons would all also be great compliments to them.
Joey Dorsey–He really isn’t used much in Houston, and who’s to say he wouldn’t make a good bench player for Chicago? It would pretty much be Chicago’s choice, as he still has the chance to develop into a better player.
