Ok, so Im a ballet dancer and spend up to 8 hours a day in tights and leotards. When I wear them I always feel like I need to pee, when I go after every class (varying from an hour to an hour and half) not much comes out. I then return to class, and soon afterward I feel like I need to pee again. It doesnt hurt when I pee, and my urine is clear or a very very light yellow.



Is it just because I am wearing tight clothing? Or should I get this check out by a doctor?

I am starting ballet and hip hop dance lessons soon and am wondering about some of the equipment I will need. I know I will need ballet slippers (full sole for beginners-right?), leotards, tights, and a gym bag to carry all my neat new stuff…But for hip hop I am not sure where to start. I guess I dont really know where to start for ballet either! What are the bare necessities (and why are they necessary), and what are the other things that would be awesome to have (and why), but are not necessary? So I have gymnastics training tomorrow. I wear my leotard and just a pair of shorts for practice. I just got my period and its my first time experiencing my period with gymnastics. I hate wearing normal underwear with my leotard because it is very uncomfortable during practice and all the routines/workouts that I do. So, for tomorrows practice I was going to wear a thong so the normal underwear wouldnt ride up, but then I got my period and I dont know what to do. If I wear normal underwear it would be extremely uncomfortable and annoying to have to keep adjusting my leo/shorts. Also, I dont really like tampons but I have some playtex sport, but I also want to wear my thong but I also want to make sure Im fully protected. Just in case this information helps, I got my period last night, so this is my 2nd day and tomorrow would be my 3rd. I dont really know what to do. Thanks

A leotard is a unisex skin-tight one-piece garment that covers the torso but leaves the legs free. It was made famous by the French acrobatic performer Jules Leotard (18421870), about whom the song “The Daring Young Man on the Flying Trapeze” was written.

Leotards are worn by acrobats, gymnasts, dancers, athletes, thespians, and circus performers both as practice garments and performance costumes. They are often worn together with tights and sometime bike shorts. There are sleeveless, short-sleeved and long-sleeved leotards. A variation is the unitard, which also covers the legs. As a casual garment, a leotard can be worn with a belt.

Leotards are entered through the neck, in contrast to bodysuits which generally have snaps at the crotch, allowing the garment to be pulled on over the head. Scoop-necked leotards have wide neck openings and are held in place by the elasticity of the garment. Others are crew necked or polo necked and close at the back of the neck with a zipper or snaps.

Leotards are used equally by both men and women for a variety of purposes, including yoga, cardiovascular exercise, dance, ballet, as pajamas, additional layered warmth under clothing, and for recreational and casual wear. They also form a part of children’s dressing up and play outfits and can also be worn as a top.

Leotards are commonly worn in figure skating, modern dance, traditional ballet and gymnastics, especially by young children. Practice leotards are usually sleeveless; female competition garments for gymnastics and skating are almost always long-sleeved while male competiton leotards may be sleeved or sleeveless, the latter more common in gymnastics.

Many leotards are cut high enough above the legs that they expose underwear. For this reason, underwear is often omitted, or special underwear, cut high on the waist, is worn. Many dance studios forbid underwear. Gymnastics judges can deduct points for visible underwear.

Despite the fact that many leotards are marketed as being for women, they are actually designed as unisex. This marketing failure has only been addressed as of early 2009. Additionally, many companies are now specifically targeting men in light of the increased popularity of the leotard.

The first known use of the name leotard came only in 1886, many years after Leotard’s death. Leotard himself called the garment a maillot, which is a general french word for different types of tight-fitting shirts or sports shirts [1]. In the early 20th century, leotards were mainly confined to circus and acrobatic shows, worn by the specialists who performed these acts.

The 1920s and 1930s saw leotards influencing the style of bathing suits, with women’s one-piece swimsuits today still being similar in appearance to leotards.

Leotards were also worn by professional dancers such as the showgirls of Broadway. Stage use of the leotard typically coordinated the garment with stockings or tights.

In the 1950s, traditionally-styled leotards continued to be worn mainly by stage performers and circus actors, but leotards began to be used as simple and functional exercise garments, often in institutional settings like schools and in fitness training. These were almost always black and worn together with thick tights. Between 1950 and 1970, leotards remained as such in appearance until a style change in the 1970s, with more colorful leotards appearing on the scene, most often in ballet and exercise.

By the late 1970s leotards had become common both as exercise and street wear, popularized by the disco craze, and aerobics fashion craze of the time. These leotards were produced in a variety of nylon and spandex materials, as well as the more traditional cotton previously used for uni-colored leotards and tights. Exercise videos by celebrities such as Jane Fonda also did much to popularize the garment. The dancewear company Danskin flourished during this period, producing a wide variety of leotards for both dance and street wear. Other companies, such as Gilda Marx, produced leotards during this time period then ceased production when they were no longer in fashion. By the late 1980s leotards for exercise wear had become little more than bikini bottoms with straps over the shoulders, generally worn with cropped shirts. From the mid 80’s through the mid 90’s leotards were popularly worn as tops with jeans especially skinny jeans. By the mid 1990s leotards had been almost completely replaced for exercise wear by the sports bra and shorts.

Among exercise garments, leotards may be seen along with other types of garments, such as T-shirts, crop tops and tights.

When Jules Leotard created the Maillot it was initially intended for men. This style of leotard can be seen in early 20th century photos of the circus “strong man”. Men’s leotards evolved along with the women’s style, eventually resembling it, except that the men’s version had a slightly lower cut leg opening and a lower cut front. The current style for men’s leotards are as numerous as women’s, including the polo and crew neck variants, meaning that they are virtually identical in their design. The popularity of leotards in women’s fashion during the late 1970s caused a gradual decline in their use by male dancers, particularly in the U. S. where this fashion trend was most visible. Despite this, several companies, including Danskin continued to produce men’s leotards well into the early 1980s. In very recent years, 2008 onwards, Men’s leotards have had a remarkable comeback. The most practical applications for their use are still dance, theatre, and exercise; but have extended to yoga, under-clothing garments, in addition to recreational and casual wear.

I look at Kevin Smith movies (such as Dogma and Jay and Silent Bob Strikes Back) and am scared of the damage he is doing to peoples brains. Anyone who has seen a cartoon or even a picture book would feel bad for someone as old as Kevin Smith to still have very little filmmaking ability and poor writing skills. Should a petition be passed around the View Askew forums asking for Kevin Smith to stop writing his own movies? Thats the least he could do for the children (his audience).

Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back is a 2001 film written by, directed by, and starring Kevin Smith, the fifth to be set in his View Askewniverse, a growing collection of characters and settings that developed out of his cult favorite Clerks. It focuses on the two titular characters, played respectively by Jason Mewes and Kevin Smith.

The film features a large number of cameo appearances by famous actors, actresses and directors.

The title and logo for Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back are direct references to the second-released Star Wars film, The Empire Strikes Back.

Smith originally intended this to be the last film to use his View Askewniverse, or to feature Jay and Silent Bob. Five years later Smith changed his mind and decided to close out the series with Clerks II, resurrecting Jay and Silent Bob in supporting roles. In the end credits for that film it states the two might return someday.

Jay and Silent Bob (Jason Mewes and Kevin Smith) find out that Bluntman and Chronic, the comic book based on their likenesses, has been adapted into a film in production by Miramax Films. Upon learning of the movie, as well as the negative reaction the movie has received so far on the internet, the two set out on a quest to Hollywood, to prevent the movie from being made and tainting their “good name”, or at the very least “get their motherfucking movie check” from the royalties due them.

On the way, they befriend an animal liberation group, consisting of four women: Justice (Shannon Elizabeth), Sissy (Eliza Dushku), Missy (Jennifer Schwalbach), and Chrissy (Ali Larter); and one man, Brent (Seann William Scott), who they had picked up for the cause. It is revealed that the organization is a front; Brent is a patsy, intended as a diversion by freeing an animal from a testing laboratory while the girls rob a diamond depository nearby. Jay tricks Brent and throws him out of the van in order to get closer to Justice, the most compassionate of the women and the one with whom he finds himself smitten. She then reluctantly accepts Jay and Bob as the new patsies.

While the girls are robbing the diamond depository they accidentally set off the alarm (by loudly passing gas, which Chrissy insists girls don’t do), prompting them to break the glass and steal the diamonds. While this is going on Jay and Silent Bob free the animals (taking an orangutan, Suzanne, with them and letting the others loose). They escape outside to see the police arriving and the van exploding, which they believe has killed the girls.

Jay then takes the orangutan with him as a memorial to Justice. Quickly afterwards, Federal Wildlife Marshal Willenholly (Will Ferrell) shows up at the scene. Blinded to the diamond heist, he claims to have jurisdiction because “somebody let out all these animals”. He learns that all the animals have been recovered except for the orangutan.

When the officers later have the trio cornered inside a diner and threaten to open fire, Jay and Silent Bob dress the orangutan as a child and walk out, claiming that they want to get their “son” out of the danger zone. Marshal Willenholly, thinking about the political repercussions of an alternate-lifestyle family going back to their liberal-minded city with tales of prejudice and bigotry from Utah, decides to let them leave, but he quickly realizes his mistake and resumes the chase. When they jump into a sewer system, only Willenholly himself follows them, and he is soon tricked into jumping off of a dam.

Having escaped the law, Jay and Silent Bob once again return to their quest to reach Hollywood only to have Suzanne taken by a Hollywood animal acting agency car. Now on a quest to get their ape back and to clear their names, the two once again embark to Hollywood.

On their arrival in Hollywood, the two find themselves in the background of a E! News newscast (ironically about their kidnapping Suzanne) that Justice is watching. While Justice takes the diamonds and goes to Hollywood to set things right, Marshal Willenholly learns of their mission to reach Hollywood and leaves to find them.

After a long chase with Studio Security and reclaiming Suzanne, Jay and Silent Bob end up in Jason Biggs and James Van Der Beek’s dressing room, where they quickly realize that these are the actors that will play the roles of Bluntman and Chronic. Suzanne beats both of them up effortlessly and Jay and Silent Bob assume the roles of their characters, Bluntman and Chronic. Being forced into their costumes and thrown on stage, they must engage in a duel with Cock-Knocker (Mark Hamill), eventually taking a break from the scene when Willenholly interrupts to capture Jay and Silent Bob. Justice and her former jewel thief team arrive, and a climactic final battle ensues, after which Jay and Silent Bob get their royalties to the film, and Justice turns herself and her former team in to Willenholly in exchange for a shorter sentence and letting Jay and Silent Bob go.

The film ends with Jay and Silent Bob spending their royalty money on finding everybody who expressed negative opinions about the movie and characters, ranging from kids to clergy, and traveling to their town to beat them up, followed by Jay and Silent Bob with most of the cast enjoying a performance from Morris Day and The Time.

After the credits, God (Alanis Morissette) closes the View Askewniverse book, though there are still pages left.

The film opened at #3 at the U. S. Box office raking in $11,018,543 USD in its first opening weekend.

Music from the Dimension Motion Picture Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, the soundtrack to the film, was released on August 14, 2001 by Universal Records. It alternates film dialogue with songs of various genres that appear in the film. It features the 2001 Afroman hit, “Because I Got High”, whose music video featured the characters Jay and Silent Bob.

Up until its theatrical release, the film had a lot of hype due to the fact the two main characters were already well-known names, and the fact it was supposed to be the last live action Jay and Silent Bob film until Clerks II was released. The film was met with mixed reviews. It did, however, become a surprise seller when released on VHS and DVD, and is also a big favorite with Kevin Smith fans, giving the film a strong cult following.

The film made $30,085,147 in the domestic market, and an additional $3,703,014 overseas, for a total of $33,788,161 gross in theaters.

In August 2001, three weeks before the theatrical release, the film came under fire from the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD), for its “overwhelmingly homophobic tone”, which included an abundance of gay jokes and characters excessively using the term “gay” to mean something derogatory. The scenes deemed particularly offensive included the Jay character’s vehement refusal of giving oral sex to a male driver when hitchhiking, and Jay chastising Silent Bob for being willing to perform fellatio on the security guard (Diedrich Bader) when necessary. Following an advance screening of the film, former GLAAD media director Scott Seomin asked writer-director Smith to make a $10,000 donation to the Matthew Shepard Foundation, as well as to include a reference to GLAAD’s cause in the ending credits. Kevin Smith initially agreed, however, after GLAAD refused to “suck his cock” as payment, Smith backed out of the deal.

On the bonus disc of the 2-disc DVD, Kevin Smith explains in the on-camera intros of the deleted scenes that several scenes had to be cut from the theatrical release, due to the film initially receiving an NC-17 rating from the MPAA. He also mentions in the audio commentary of the feature film that it took three submissions to the MPAA for the film to earn an R rating.
